What do you give the person who has everything?
So many people these days have everything they need and are asking their loved ones to make a donation to charity instead of choosing presents when celebrating a special occasion.
Weddings, birthdays and anniversaries are ideal ways to give to charity and we would be delighted if you choose Heart Research UK.
How to give a special gift
- Why not include a note with your invitation asking people to make a donation to Heart Research UK instead of giving a present?
- On the day of your celebration, guests can post their donations into a box and at the end of the party you might like to announce how much has been raised.
- Send all your donations to Heart Research at the address below.
- Alternatively, you could set up your own webpage on Justgiving and email all your friends and family asking them to donate online. Click here to set up your own webpage.
A very special wedding present
Janet and Sean Ives decided to do something very special for their wedding list by asking guests to donate to Heart Research UK. They said, "We both agreed that as we already have a kettle, ironing board and other things needed on a daily basis that we would like donations to charities rather than gifts to us. People gave as generously as they would for a traditional present and we are delighted to have raised nearly £650 for Heart Research UK."
It was a lovely, generous act and we all wish Janet and Sean much joy and happiness together for many years to come.
An 80th birthday gift
Roland Mathers's friends and family donated more than £200 to Heart Research UK to commemorate his 80th birthday.
Roland suffered from heart problems until he had a heart bypass operation at the old Killingbeck Hospital in Leeds in September 1985.
Roland said, "Before my operation I struggled to get about and afterwards my life totally changed. Even now, 20 years on, I still feel 100% and I am grateful for the new life that was given to me".
He is delighted to donate to the charity that pioneered advancements in heart surgery used in his operation.
