Solihull Transplant Recipient Wins Gold at the World Transplant Games
Paul Bill a heart transplant recipient, from Solihull, took home a gold medal for the tennis doubles at the 2011 World Transplant Games in Göteborg, Sweden. Paul was able to compete in this year’s games thanks to a hearty donation from Heart Research UK, who gave him £500 towards the cost of attending the games. Read more.
Healthy Hearts, Happy Families
Overweight mothers and their young children, from five deprived inner-city wards in Birmingham, will learn how to keep their hearts healthy through an interactive fitness project thanks to a Healthy Heart Grant of nearly £10,000. It is being run by Sport 4 Life UK and has been funded by Heart Research UK. Read more.
Birmingham Youngsters set to get Heart Healthy
Young people from the Kings Norton Estates will be learning how to keep their hearts healthy through an exciting new project, thanks to a £9,560 Healthy Heart Grant from Heart Research UK. Those taking part will benefit from a range of Healthy Heart activities including healthy cookery classes and an intensive fitness programme, organised and Catch22 run community group, Birmingham Kings Norton Positive Futures. New Jane Tomlinson Walk For All 2012
Heart Research UK is proud to be a partner charity of the Jane Tomlinson Walk For All Peak District Walk.
With a 24, 12 and 5 mile route across the stunning scenery of the Peak District National Park, the walking festival on Sunday 29th April is a perfect Sunday for families, casual or even marathon walkers. What's more, every step will benefit Heart Research UK, with profits from the event helping to fund pioneering heart research.
